Diagnostic Pathologist Opportunity

The Department of Veteran Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Pathologist to join our team in the Department of Pathology. As a key member of our diagnostic team, you will provide expert diagnostic services, including subspecialty coverage, to support the healthcare needs of our nation's veterans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead diagnostic interpretation of specimens processed within the laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Provide guidance and support to residents and trainees on specimen processing and evaluation.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of gross specimens and provide expert interpretation of intraoperative frozen sections.
  • Offer intraoperative and intraprocedural consultation as requested, ensuring seamless collaboration with clinical teams.
  • Interpret and sign-out surgical pathology specimens within CAP guidelines for turnaround time, prioritizing quality and efficiency.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary conferences, including Tumor Board, Chest Conference, and GI Conference, to ensure comprehensive care for our veterans.
  • Review clinical history and medical records for autopsy coverage, ensuring informed consent and accurate documentation.
  • Perform autopsies, issue preliminary findings, and complete autopsy reports with clinicopathologic correlation within 30 days.
  • Provide diagnostic expertise and sign-out in areas where sub-specialty fellowship training has been completed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of our diagnostic team.
