We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Classroom Aide Interns and take the first steps toward a rewarding career in early childhood education.

About the Opportunity

This exciting paid internship provides a unique chance to gain valuable experience while earning a competitive hourly wage of $21.00 per hour. You will work alongside experienced educators, learn essential skills, and develop your knowledge in a supportive environment.

Program Details

  • Maintain enrollment in our Pathway Program and complete required courses with a minimum grade of C to become eligible for the associate teacher permit;
  • Attend child development classes facilitated by East Los Angeles College (ELAC) for four hours per week and complete approximately eight to 10 hours of homework per week;
  • Assist senior teachers with supervision of children and classroom management;
  • Participate in providing a wide variety of experiences for children, emphasizing active learning;
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and sanitary facility;
  • Interact with sensitivity and good judgment when dealing with children, parents, and staff;
  • Collaborate effectively with other team members;
  • Actively participate in annual in-service training;
  • Implement all organization and program policies and procedures;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Be currently enrolled in a child development course or agree to enroll in our Pathway Program to obtain an associate teacher permit;
  • Possess current certification in pediatric CPR and pediatric first aid acceptable to Community Care Licensing (Health and Safety Code 1596.866), and renew every two years;
  • Complete health screening and TB clearance, renewed every five years;
  • Provide proof of immunization for TDap, MMR, whooping cough, and yearly influenza (waiver may be accepted for influenza);
  • Clear background screening;
  • Complete mandated reporter certification training, renewed every two years;
  • A California driver's license, daily use of an automobile, and automobile liability insurance (preferred);
  • Command of Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese (preferred);
  • Ability to communicate in written and oral English correctly and effectively.
