Position Overview:
As a Welding and Forming Process Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to oversee engineering aspects related to the planning, management, and maintenance of production methodologies for welding and forming equipment, with a focus on laser, plasma, and resistance welding techniques.
Your projects will aim to enhance workplace safety, improve product quality, streamline processes, and positively influence the financial performance of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze equipment, processes, operations, and procedures to pinpoint opportunities for enhancements in safety, quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Implement modifications and update operational standards.
- Assess vendor proposals for new equipment acquisitions.
- Choose and apply appropriate manufacturing processes while integrating modern organizational strategies to produce competitively priced products.
- Identify and refine existing and new manufacturing processes through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with production and maintenance teams to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Conduct capability assessments and time studies.
- Engage in process development, which may involve creating visual work instructions.
- Provide production support and troubleshoot process issues.
- Focus on reducing costs related to scrap, rework, and cycle times.
- Specify necessary tools, jigs, and fixtures.
- Coordinate projects and address daily troubleshooting challenges.
- Participate in Kaizen events for ongoing improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Mechanical, Welding, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience required.
- 2-4 years of engineering project experience in metal manufacturing preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles, capability studies, process mapping, FMEA, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to lead projects and thrive in a dynamic continuous improvement environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with an understanding of complex process interactions.
- Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Creo and AutoCAD is a significant advantage.
