Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all monitoring, recording, and related apparatus utilized during procedures. Gather and prepare relevant data for physician/staff use. Ensure the preparation, delivery, and retrieval of reusable items for re-sterilization.
  • Observe patient electrocardiograms for cardiac dysrhythmias.
  • Operate the defibrillator and execute cardiopulmonary resuscitation as necessary. Provide support in emergency scenarios.
  • Assist in pre and post-procedure tasks related to equipment and patient care. Conduct initial troubleshooting on equipment. Perform calibration, cleaning, and quality assurance on equipment.
  • Identify cardiovascular and peripheral vascular anatomy for documentation.
  • Collect and record clinical data during procedures in the procedure log.
  • Prepare and operate imaging, angiographic, interventional, and storage systems.
  • Position patients and select exposure factors for all radiographic procedures conducted in the department.
  • Support physicians and staff during procedures. Scrub in to assist the physician with diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures, demonstrating knowledge of equipment and options.
  • Execute bloom operations (i.e., overdrive pacing).
  • Exhibit knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for patients. Demonstrate understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, interpreting the necessary information to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs, and provide care as outlined in departmental policies and procedures.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within 6 months unless determined otherwise by the department leader.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within 6 months unless determined otherwise by the department leader.

Educational Background:
  • Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology or a related field.

Experience Needed:
  • No prior experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Completion of an approved basic ECG interpretation course within three months of hire.
  • Ability to swiftly adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with physicians, patients, and other staff members.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, twisting, and reaching above shoulders frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to:
  • lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
  • lift up to 20 lbs. overhead.
  • carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to:
  • push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
  • perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with assistance.
  • Position requires the use of foot pedals on carts or machines.
  • May encounter mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be utilized as necessary.
  • Operate all equipment necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
