Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Michigan Institute of Urology is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate, and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct sonographic examinations using high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal organs and tissues.
- Record and analyze images to identify abnormalities and provide diagnostic information to physicians.
- Present sonograms and preliminary findings to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Complete accurate and detailed documentation of patient information and examination results.
- Assist physicians and healthcare teams during invasive procedures and provide medical care as needed.
- Maintain and clean sonographic equipment, and perform routine maintenance tasks.
- Insert patient information and personal data into the computer to maintain examination records.
- Assess patient physical, psychological, and educational needs to obtain appropriate history prior to each exam.
- Explain procedures to patients, instruct, and assist them in positioning for exams.
- Monitor images for quality and adjust as needed.
- Record optimal anatomical images that are transferred to the PACS system, disc, strip printout, or film to obtain a permanent record.
- Provide relevant technical information about the patient and exam to facilitate interpretation of the study by the radiologist.
- Registration with one of the two recognized medical diagnostic sonography organizations is preferred: The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
- BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.
- Current R.D.M.S. Certification.
- Previous Ultrasound Technologist experience strongly preferred - six months to one year related experience preferred. New grads will be considered.
