Belleville Public Schools is seeking a Support Staff to assist the classroom teacher in providing extra support to students with special needs. This role plays a vital part in promoting maximum academic and personal growth.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing instructional reinforcement, assisting with classroom management, and supervising students. Key tasks include attending to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs, as well as supporting students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students
  • Assist teacher with classroom management and general supervision of the class
  • Assist with administrative duties such as setting up equipment and preparing materials
  • Supervise students in various settings including the cafeteria, schoolyard, specials, hallways, and during before and after school programs
  • Support students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans

Qualifications for this role include a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, a valid NJ criminal history letter, and a negative tuberculosis test obtained within 6 months of initial employment.
