Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Applications Engineering Manager to lead our team in developing and implementing manufacturing processes for BIW tooling systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost estimating, process engineering, and team management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes for BIW tooling systems, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Prepare quotes for customer systems, including cycle time analysis, conceptual drawings, and technical descriptions.
  • Estimate costs of new equipment or capital investment necessary for production.
  • Collaborate with project management to negotiate changes and costs on projects.
  • Oversee the concepting processes required to efficiently manufacture components within an automated weld line.
  • Meet with customers to kick off proposals and ensure alignment with plant requirements.
  • Work with the Sales team to review process concepts and quotes with customers.
  • Work with Purchasing to get quotes for capital equipment required for processes.
  • Attend budget reviews to assess quoted margins versus actual margins.
  • Recommend process improvements for estimating and implement new procedures where needed.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in cost estimating or process engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience within the relevant industry.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience directing and managing a team.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and ability to interpret engineering layouts and data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze financial data to estimate costs.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
Work Environment
  • Must be able to work in a professional office environment as well as a manufacturing environment.
  • May be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, and occasionally chemical fumes.
  • The noise level within the manufacturing floor may be faint to moderate, and occasionally loud.
  • Eyewear is mandatory while in the manufacturing area.
  • Safety shoes such as hard-soled shoes are to be worn in the manufacturing area.
