Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Director to lead our Heavy Civil construction projects. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 10+ years of experience in project management, with a strong understanding of CPM scheduling, construction work planning, and cost accounting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project controls, engineering, materials management, scheduling, and team collaboration. Key responsibilities include:

  • Project Planning & Management
    • Schedule Development: Maintain the project master schedule using CPM techniques and scheduling software with team input
    • Document Mastery: Understand contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scope of work
    • Work Breakdown Structure (WBS): Set up and maintain the WBS and Productivity Monitoring System; review with the team
    • Document Control: Log, track, and update drawings and contract documents
    • Change Orders & Field Estimates: Manage change orders and perform field estimates for cost control
    • Procurement & Quality Control: Handle purchasing, approve invoices, and ensure quality assurance/control programs are followed
    • Meetings & Coordination: Lead meetings, prepare agendas, and document notes and minutes
  • Team Leadership & Coordination
    • Collaboration: Work with engineers, owners, subcontractors, and the public
    • Subcontract Management: Oversee subcontractors to ensure compliance with project needs
    • Supervision & Mentorship: Mentor and guide Project Engineers and Interns
    • Safety Oversight: Partner with the General Superintendent to execute the Site-Specific and Company Safety Plans
  • Field Oversight & Problem Solving
    • Field Inspections: Inspect conditions, resolve issues, and identify cost-saving opportunities
    • Workplace Safety: Identify hazards and take corrective actions
    • Time Management: Approve project hours through the time management system
    • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as needed

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field. We offer a competitive compensation package, full health and dental benefits, matching retirement savings, and paid time off (PTO). This position also includes a company vehicle, laptop, and cell phone. The role is Monday through Friday, with no weekend hours, primarily based in-office at our Oakdale, MN location, with up to 25% local and national travel.
