Job Summary

Kittery Schools is seeking qualified Educational Technicians to support our Extended School Year (ESY) special education summer program. The program will take place from July 8 to August 8, 2024, and will be held at Mitchell School, Shapleigh School, and Traip Academy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain confidentiality of student, family, and employee information
  • Meet regularly with program supervisor to discuss student progress
  • Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by teachers
  • Assist in preparation of classroom materials and class management functions
  • Exhibit positive language and behavior skills as a model for children and families
  • Provide input to completion and maintenance of individual observational child assessment
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Special Education Director/Supervisor
Requirements
  • Obtain and maintain authorization as an Ed Tech per Chapter 115 of the Maine Department of Education
  • Document at least two years of postsecondary education or a combination equivalent to 60 hours of approved study in an educationally related field
  • Successful background, criminal records, fingerprinting, and reference check

  • Working knowledge of child development, disabilities, family systems, and special education methods
  • Exhibit a positive professionalism with supervisors, co-workers, students, parents, and community
  • Provide individual and group services in a variety of settings and models
  • Establish an effective rapport/relationship with children and parents
  • Work collaboratively as a member of an early childhood team
  • Effectively communicate - orally and in writing
  • Maintain composure in stressful situations
  • Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and ability to take initiative
