Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic studies and radiopharmaceutical therapeutic administrations utilizing radiopharmaceuticals and imaging equipment in accordance with Carle policies and procedures and IEMA Department of Nuclear Safety regulations.
  • Review cases with the radiologist when appropriate and review labs and patient history to perform correct exam.
  • Administer IV radiopharmaceuticals by means of existing IV line or by performing veni-puncture and placing IV line.
  • Screen the patient for possibility of pregnancy and perform pregnancy testing if applicable.
  • Responsible to review radiology orders for completeness and accuracy and review patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity.
  • Take steps to acquire additional information if needed from the patient, ordering provider and/or Radiologist.
  • Demonstrate acceptable imaging quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors and alignment.
  • Review patient data for accuracy, quality and completeness and transfer and verify image data in PACS and provide necessary medical history and information for Radiologist interpretation.
  • Utilize the web servers and email systems to send exams for preliminary readings after hours.
  • Responsible for maintaining imaging equipment and workplace environment including maintaining supply inventories and orderliness of work area.
  • Recognize malfunctions and service needs and report service needs in a timely manner.
  • Ensure patient, visitor and environmental safety and report safety events immediately including those that are a near miss.
  • Assist in instruction of students and new staff as necessary and may perform duties of Nuc Med Lead or Imaging Coordinator in his/her absence.
  • Meet productivity levels as established by department benchmarking and assist other areas during downtimes so to maintain productivity.
  • May be required to perform duties of other modalities within the department to which licensers are held by the technologist/sonographer.
Requirements
  • CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • State License-Nuclear Medicine Tech-Illinois
  • Ability to lift 50-100lbs
