Position Overview
As the Assistant Vice President, Internal Audit Lead, you will play a crucial role in our auditing processes. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of internal auditing tasks, including defining the scope of audit engagements, executing diverse internal audit testing procedures, and overseeing the planning of individual audit areas. You will also supervise and mentor staff, ensure thorough documentation of work performed, communicate audit findings to relevant personnel, facilitate the remediation of identified risks, and review the audit work completed by your team.
Success Metrics
In your first year as our AVP, Internal Audit Lead, you will know you have succeeded if you can:
- Conduct and/or evaluate financial and operational audits in line with the internal audit framework.
- Oversee and/or finalize the planning of audit engagements.
- Assist in managing Audit Staff, including setting objectives and conducting performance reviews.
- Coordinate training for new staff members.
- Contribute to the drafting of necessary reports.
- Review company practices and records for adherence to established internal policies and procedures.
- Formulate recommendations to enhance internal controls, operational efficiency, and the integrity of records.
- Report audit findings and suggestions to management based on scheduled and unscheduled audits, as well as any urgent issues.
- Conduct follow-up assessments of financial or operational issues identified during audits.
- Investigate irregularities brought to the auditor's attention.
- Perform additional duties as required, aligned with the objectives and responsibilities of the Internal Audit Department.
- Engage in ongoing professional development regarding industry regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards.
What We Seek:
- A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Accounting or Finance, with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a related auditing role (supervisory experience is advantageous).
- Experience in the banking or financial services sector is preferred.
- Willingness to travel as necessary.
- CPA or other audit-related certification (e.g., CIA) is required.
