Position Overview:

The role involves the safe and efficient operation of a tanker truck. The driver will be tasked with loading and unloading water, transporting it from the landfill to the treatment facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a 4,000-gallon tanker truck.
  • Utilize diesel water pumps for loading and unloading at the landfill.
  • Transport water to the designated treatment facility.
  • Attach and detach hoses for filling and emptying the tank multiple times daily.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and maintain necessary documentation.
  • Report mechanical issues to the mechanic and supervisor promptly.
  • Adhere to prescribed techniques to prevent mechanical failures.
  • Follow all safety protocols and regulations during operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle, both interior and exterior.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of truck components and maintenance requirements.
  • Capability to operate various vehicles and equipment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills for job-related calculations.
  • Ability to produce simple reports and documentation.
  • Comprehension of company policies and procedures.
  • Common sense reasoning for following instructions and solving problems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Skill in maneuvering trailers.
  • Knowledge of air brake systems.
  • Ability to drive vehicles with a weight capacity of up to 80,000 lbs.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or B required.
  • Tanker endorsement is mandatory.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • At least one year of commercial driving experience or a CDL school certificate.
  • Must meet safety-sensitive function criteria as per company standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate the truck and equipment safely.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to perform various physical tasks including standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Visual acuity for safe operation in various conditions.
  • Ability to lift/move weights up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Work in loud environments regularly.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to various weather conditions and loud noise.
  • Work primarily outdoors.
  • Continuous travel away from the branch location.
  • Occasional work in high or precarious places.
  • Constant interaction with motor vehicle traffic.
  • Generally loud work environment.
