Ambulatory Care RN Supervisor

As a key member of the Kaiser Permanente team, the Ambulatory Care RN Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care services. This position is responsible for supervising daily operations and patient care activities in a single department or multiple small departments. The successful candidate will ensure that staff provides accessible, cost-effective care and patient-focused services that comply with local, state, and federal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily operations and service delivery to ensure seamless patient care.
- Ensure staff provides high-quality care and adheres to regulatory requirements, including the Nurse Practice Act, NCQA, TJC, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Implement and maintain patient care and quality service standards to meet member and internal client expectations.
- Act as a patient advocate, resolving patient care issues and promoting a positive patient experience.
- Develop and implement processes to improve systems and patient care results across the continuum of care.
- Assist in developing and monitoring budgets and resource allocations to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Monitor financial performance and identify strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care/service.
- Determine the appropriate staff mix for the department and develop processes to screen, interview, hire, train, and maintain the competency of all department staff.
- Provide ongoing staff development and training to ensure staff has the necessary skills to deliver high-quality care.
- Supervise the implementation of policies and procedures that support the goals and business objectives of the organization and department.
- Collaborate with physicians, department chiefs, and nursing managers to develop patient services and day-to-day operations of the department.
- Manage and resolve human resource, labor relations, employee, and department safety, and risk management issues.
Requirements:
- Minimum two years of experience in ambulatory care or other relevant clinical experience required.
- OR
- Minimum two years in a healthcare leadership capacity.
- OR
- Completion of Kaiser Permanente Southern California Postgraduate Fellowship in Health Care Administration.
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelor's degree or four years of experience in a directly related field.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration:
- Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
- Basic Life Support required at hire from American Heart Association.
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, TJC, and other local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Clinical specialization in area of practice preferred.
- Ambulatory Care Supervisory experience is preferred.
