About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our Pittsburgh Design Center team. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with national industry leaders and local experts to support clients with structural design.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a multi-discipline team working on signature projects, including the design of new navigation locks, coastal protection projects, and rehabilitation of inland navigation lock and dam systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural design and analysis of civil works structures, including flood walls, navigation locks, dam structures, and waterfront structures.
  • Produce calculations using engineering formulas for project design.
  • Conduct quality control checks of calculations, drawings, and quantities.
  • Research design options and document findings for senior engineers.
  • Solve problems using a combination of design standards and modified standard procedures or methods developed in prior assignments.
  • Read, interpret, and develop structural design plans.
  • Review and respond to shop drawings and RFIs during construction.
  • Provide information to senior engineers for incorporation into specifications.
  • Assign work and/or check design calculations and quantities from junior engineers.
  • Contact and coordinate with other departments to research appropriate course of action.
Requirements
  • BS in civil/structural engineering required (master's degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of relevant structural engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
