Job Summary:

UNC Health Care is seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse II to join our team. As a Clinical Nurse II, you will provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and others. Attend education programs based on identified learning needs and use patient education materials relevant to the patient population.
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and seek guidance as needed in revision of the plan of care. Participate in discussion with members of the interdisciplinary team in evaluation of patient care and communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
  • Demonstrate competence in care of patients with complex problems, including population-appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care. Perform bedside point of care testing as required for the patient care plan and utilize healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in delivery of care.
  • Organize and prioritize care according to patient/family needs and consult with appropriate resources in a timely fashion regarding patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs, and/or those at high risk for discharge planning.
  • Develop goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations and achieve goals and objectives within identified time frames or renegotiate with a supervisor. Be knowledgeable about activities that facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration and participate in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.
  • Recognize data from complex situations to determine priorities for care and include appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs. Synthesize assessment data into meaningful wholes prior to communication to others and assess and anticipate discharge needs of individual patients and families.
  • Collaborate with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care and make use of available multidisciplinary resources in planning care. Identify and address cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care and demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • One (1) year of nursing experience.

This position is employed by UNC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System. This is not a State employed position.
