Job Title: Registered Nurse Clinical Mentor

Inova Health System is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse Clinical Mentor to join our team. As a Clinical Mentor, you will play a vital role in training, coaching, and mentoring nursing staff to deliver high-quality patient care.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse Clinical Mentor will be responsible for developing expertise in training, coaching, and mentoring nursing staff. This includes orienting, educating, and developing nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill specified responsibilities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and personal development, utilizing professional literature, attending continuing education programs, and participating in committee work to continually develop new knowledge and skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver educational programs to maintain and improve staff knowledge, skill development, and clinical competence in support of Inova Health System goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide feedback and consultation to nursing leadership, clinical educators, and preceptors regarding the nurses' progress throughout the transition to practice period.
  • Monitor nurses' development through educating, mentoring, and precepting phases in the classroom setting, simulation laboratory, and on assigned nursing units.
  • Apply principles of adult learning theories to facilitate learning and development of new knowledge, skills, and critical thinking.
  • Identify learning needs that are consistent with standards of specialty nursing practices, clinical pathways, and nursing strategic initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • At least 2 years of progressive experience in nursing and in designated specialty.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider certification issued by the American Heart Association.
