We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at UMass Memorial Health. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of laboratory tests, including blood counts, chemistry tests, and microbiology tests, to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes, centrifuges, and automated analyzers.
- Assess the acceptability of specimens for analysis and maintain the integrity of specimens throughout the testing process.
- Document all maintenance procedures performed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure the reliability of laboratory test results.
- Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
- Professional knowledge of medical technology principles and methodologies sufficient to perform clinical laboratory procedures.
- Ability to endure periods of heavy workload and stress.
- Ability to accept constructive feedback and initiate appropriate actions to correct situations.
- Ability to use computer-based systems to record, track, review, and interpret test results.
- MLT (ASCP) certification.
- Minimum one year of clinical laboratory experience.
