Respiratory Therapist Job Description

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Respiratory Therapist to provide high-quality patient care in our respiratory department. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and possess a strong understanding of respiratory therapy principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient respiratory status and develop individualized care plans to meet their needs.
  • Operate and maintain respiratory equipment, including ventilators, oxygen therapy devices, and other related equipment.
  • Administer medications and therapies as prescribed by physicians, and educate patients on proper use and management.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide comprehensive patient care and support.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 12 months OR active Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential issued by the NBRC if credential received prior to January 1, 2019.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
