Overview:
The Family Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering direct assistance, both in community settings and within family homes, to facilitate access to essential resources such as housing, financial aid, transportation, education, and employment opportunities.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct assessments for children and their families to identify obstacles hindering their progress towards personal and familial objectives.
2. Connect families with appropriate resources and services to help them overcome these challenges.
3. Provide educational support and family services as required.
4. Empower families to effectively utilize available resources and engage in activities that promote their goals, focusing on self-sufficiency.
5. Maintain thorough and up-to-date records for all participating families, documenting progress towards the child's objectives and the parents' achievements in family service goals.
7. Collaborate with Special Education professionals, Social Workers, and families to ensure seamless service delivery.
8. Attend and actively engage in all staff meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications:
Child Development Associate (CDA) credential is preferred.
Current CPR certification is required.
EDUCATION:
A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 2 years of experience working with expectant mothers, families, and children aged 0-3 is essential.
Experience in home visiting is advantageous.
