POSITION SUMMARY:

Delivers comprehensive physical therapy services to a specified patient demographic, facilitating their journey towards optimal physical autonomy. Conducts thorough evaluations, applies therapeutic modalities, and implements treatment plans aimed at restoring functionality, alleviating discomfort, and preventing disabilities resulting from illness or injury. Provides care across all age ranges, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. Oversees the treatment provided by physical therapist assistants and may offer orientation and continuous support to assigned personnel.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Must uphold current Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as mandated by state regulations. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

No prior experience is necessary.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid Georgia Physical Therapist License or current compact privileges in Georgia. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years of relevant experience is preferred.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivers expert physical therapy services to patients of all ages, ensuring high-quality care and functional restoration.
a. Maintains detailed patient records, including evaluations, care plans, and progress notes, accurately documenting patient responses to treatments and educational interventions. Utilizes objective data with clarity and precision in documentation.
b. Provides direct patient care, employing appropriate modalities and techniques for diverse age groups, demonstrating proficiency in executing patient care tasks and conducting relevant assessments.

  • Assists in measuring treatment quality and outcomes.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, and other rehabilitation team members to formulate patient care strategies, including therapeutic adjustments and discharge planning.
  • Maintains active and supportive communication with patients and relevant parties regarding progress, challenges, home exercise programs, and other therapeutic concerns.
  • Delegates treatment plans and responsibilities to support staff based on their skill and competency levels.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Possesses strong instructional capabilities and knowledge of educational methodologies. Demonstrates leadership qualities in critical thinking.

Must effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with healthcare professionals, patients, families, and physicians.

Exhibits emotional resilience to manage various stressful situations, including emergency responses to patient incidents.

Requires tact, discretion, and diplomacy, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
Has the capacity to evaluate and interpret information, making independent decisions as necessary.
Must possess sensory skills to identify clinical signs and symptoms.
Exhibits strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
Must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.

Must be capable of organizing work, delegating tasks effectively, and supervising the activities of assistants, technicians, and other healthcare providers.
