Summary/Objective of Position:


This role is dedicated to the planning, coordination, and organization of various services and activities within the Learning Center to support students in achieving their educational aspirations.

The position also provides essential support for student success initiatives, including orientation, tutoring, and academic workshops.

Description of Essential Functions of the Position

Facilitates information dissemination regarding Learning Center services; assists with document scanning, printing, and scheduling tutoring and study group sessions; coordinates computer lab usage with students, staff, and faculty; aids students in accessing library services.

Collaborates closely with the Tsaile Learning Center to ensure high-quality student services.

Engages with other centers to foster partnerships and enhance student learning opportunities.

Provides assistance to faculty with printing, scanning, test proctoring, and minor IT troubleshooting; administers ALEKS math placement tests.


Operates various virtual learning tools and computers; collaborates with IT to test, adjust, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment; ensures the lab is maintained in a safe, clean, and organized manner.


Offers training to students on navigating the DC Portal (including warrior web, canvas, online distance learning participation, Zoom, MS Teams, etc.).

Coordinates with first-year coordinators and orientation staff to schedule orientations for new students.


Works with student service programs to organize or conduct regular academic workshops focusing on skill development, time management, study techniques, and financial literacy.

Assists students with scholarship applications (including Navajo Nation Scholarship, FAFSA, and private scholarships).


Supervises part-time college student workers (including Federal Work Study, Tutors, Workforce Development, or TANF participants, Chapter House employment programs, etc.).


Participates in community outreach activities; networks with other colleges/universities, tribal entities, and state organizations to coordinate student activities (such as Career Fairs, Transfer Days, local K-12 school visits, booth setups, etc.).


Collects and compiles data for institutional statistical reports (including sign-in sheets, computer lab usage, tutoring services, activities/event sign-in, or grant-related data reporting).


QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

Minimum:

High School diploma or equivalent. One year of customer service experience. Experience in tutoring and working with Native American populations.

Preferred:

Associate/Bachelor Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related fields. Two to three years of experience in a college environment.

Knowledge:

Familiarity with FERPA policies to ensure student confidentiality.

Proficient in Microsoft Software and student information systems (e.g., J1).

Skilled in using basic office equipment (e.g., desktop computers, Xerox machines, etc.).

Understanding of college academic policies and procedures to assist students effectively.

Skills:

Ability to generate and self-initiate ideas. Self-motivated and capable of working under pressure.

Participation in individual and team professional development opportunities.

Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrates sensitivity to student needs; ability to encourage and empower students to make their own decisions.

Abilities:

Ability to identify student needs for support services and make appropriate referrals.

Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.

Effective communication skills with students, staff, and faculty.

Capacity for sound decision-making and adaptability to change.

Physical Requirement, Work Environment & Travel:

This position requires average agility and good physical condition.

Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Travel to other Diné College sites may be necessary for training or meetings.

Other Requirement(s):

A valid state-issued driver's license is required.

Oral fluency in Navajo is highly desirable.
