Job Title: CPU RTL Architect

At Apple, we're pushing the boundaries of innovation and technology. As a CPU RTL Architect, you'll play a critical role in designing high-performance, low-power microprocessors that power our innovative products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and specify micro-architecture for CPU front-end and/or out-of-order subsystems
  • Own or participate in RTL development, assessment, and refinement to meet power, performance, area, and timing goals
  • Support verification team in test bench development, formal methods, and simulation/emulation for functional verification
  • Explore high-performance strategies and work with performance verification team to verify RTL design meets targeted performance
  • Work with multifunctional engineering team to implement and verify physical design on timing, area, reliability, testability, and power
Requirements:
  • Minimum BS and 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Thorough knowledge of microprocessor architecture, including expertise in instruction fetch and decode, branch prediction, instruction scheduling, register renaming, and out-of-order execution
  • Knowledge of Verilog and/or VHDL, experience with simulators and waveform debugging tools
  • Knowledge of logic design principles, timing, and power implications
  • Understanding of low-power microarchitecture techniques and high-performance techniques and trade-offs in a CPU microarchitecture
  • Experience in C or C++ programming and experience using an interpretive language such as Perl or Python
