Certified Respiratory Care Specialist

Position Overview:
The Certified Respiratory Care Specialist provides essential respiratory therapy services to assess, diagnose, and manage patients with respiratory and pulmonary conditions. This role involves evaluating patient health status and collaborating with medical professionals to formulate effective treatment strategies, while also tracking patient recovery to ensure optimal outcomes. The specialist is responsible for meticulously documenting all patient interactions and ensuring adherence to established quality care standards and departmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engages with colleagues, patients, and visitors in alignment with the core values of the institution.
- Delivers physician-ordered respiratory treatments, including oxygen therapy, respiratory medications, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), arterial blood gases (ABGs), and mechanical ventilation support.
- Conducts both invasive and non-invasive assessments to identify respiratory care requirements, providing recommendations that enhance patient recovery and facilitate timely discharge.
- Monitors patients on mechanical ventilation, performing clinical evaluations, routine assessments, troubleshooting, weaning processes, airway management, and diagnostic evaluations to ensure patient safety and care quality.
- Collects and evaluates sputum, blood, and breath samples for diagnostic purposes, measuring lung capacity to identify any impairments.
- Offers diagnostic insights and treatment recommendations based on patient analysis.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care continuity and service coordination.
- Ensures efficient operation of the pulmonary function and arterial blood gas laboratories, along with other tasks as directed by supervisory personnel.
Essential Qualifications:
Demonstrated professional expertise in the field of Respiratory Care, in accordance with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) standards.
Required Credentials and Education:
Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care program.
Licensure by the relevant State Board of Medicine or State Board of Osteopathic Medicine.
Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) is mandatory.
An Associate's degree or equivalent is required.
Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care (if not certified or registered, must achieve NBRC registration within two years of employment).
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and/or Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) certifications are preferred.
Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.
Covid Vaccination is a prerequisite for employment for individuals working in clinical settings.
Unvaccinated candidates will be required to receive the vaccination prior to their start date unless an approved medical or religious exemption is granted.
