Description
Overview

The Clinical Nurse Specialist adheres to the legal parameters of nursing practice as defined by the relevant Nurse Practice Act and engages in only those activities for which they are licensed, qualified, and trained.

The individual complies with and executes the regulations established by the standards of practice.

The nurse takes ownership of their nursing actions and ongoing professional development, completing all required competencies and training as per organizational policy.

Key Responsibilities

include the following:
Upholds appropriate clinical standards and adheres to the policies and procedures outlined in the Company Policy and Procedure Manual.

Respects the individual rights and cultural diversity of patients; supports patients in their right to be informed and involved in decisions regarding their medical care and treatment.

Delivers high-quality, patient-centered healthcare.

Patient care responsibilities may encompass nursing assessments, CLIA waived point of care testing, medication administration, phlebotomy, intravenous therapy, wound care, splint application, and other treatments as directed by the healthcare provider.

Develops a patient education plan tailored to the specific needs of the patient as prescribed by the physician, including instruction for both patients and their families; ensures that all aspects of care honor personal values and beliefs while focusing on the unique needs of each patient.

Delegates only uncomplicated tasks to unlicensed medical staff.
Maintains comprehensive clinical documentation, including quality control and compliance logs as mandated by company policy and relevant regulatory bodies.
Accurately and efficiently documents all clinical patient care information.
Utilizes all equipment, supplies, facilities, and resources of the organization in a responsible and efficient manner.

Assists the provider and on-duty staff throughout the shift, including but not limited to unpacking supplies and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the clinic.

Cleans instruments and equipment according to company guidelines, ensuring exam rooms are stocked before, during, and after each shift.

Assists in preparing exam rooms, procedure rooms, and treatment rooms immediately after a patient is discharged.

Aids non-ambulatory patients in moving to and from the building.

Engages in departmental quality improvement initiatives, participates in staff educational programs, attends departmental meetings, and demonstrates and maintains clinical competency in delivering patient care services in line with company standards.

Requirements
Education and/or Experience

Relevant Nursing Degree.
Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Reasoning

Ability to solve practical problems and support a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
Computer Skills


To perform this job successfully, the employee should possess knowledge of EMR DocuTap, Excel Spreadsheet software, and MS Word Processing software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current State Nursing License and Basic Life Support Certification are required.
Other Qualifications

Successful completion of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred.
