About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team at Carlisle Interconnect Technologies. As a Machinist, you will be responsible for producing machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers. You will maintain quality and safety standards, keep records, and maintain equipment and supplies to manufacture metallic and nonmetallic parts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on materials or work piece as guides for subsequent machining as necessary.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls as required.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Achieve organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Verify conformance of finished work piece to drawing specifications.
  • Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Meet production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity, and quality.
  • Adhere to all factory safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure workstation is clean, organized, and free of hazardous materials.
  • Continuously grow lean knowledge and use tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to team effort in a collaborative and supportive manner.

Education and/or Experience

  • Vocational, High School diploma, or general education degree (GED)
  • 3-years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Articulate with use of good grammar skills.
  • A team player that can relate to people at all levels of the organization and possesses excellent communication skills with high ethical standards and a positive professional image.

Job Skills

  • Conceptual skills, process improvement, verbal communication, functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation, supply management, tooling, inventory control, attention to detail, judgment.
  • Writing skills required to complete documents and forms.
  • Reliable and flexible to work additional hours on short notice to complete orders and/or special projects to meet customer demands.
  • Able to use calipers, torque wrenches, jigs, fixtures, and other tools.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Ability to measure accurately using a ruler or tape measure.
  • Understanding and experience in Lean manufacturing environment preferred. Participate in 5S related performance teams.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Problem-Solving ability.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data at a level 2 and 3.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with high attention to detail and accuracy.

Work Environment

Carlisle IT Franklin is a clean facility housing different kinds of machinery, equipment, processes, and chemicals which produce potential hazards in the work environment such as: ergonomic, chemical, machine point of operation, and powered industrial vehicle traffic. These hazards are controlled through means of engineering controls, such as machine guarding, and administrative controls, such as safety policies and programs. In certain areas of the facility, employees are required to wear Personal Protective equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, and hand protection.

Personal Protective Equipment Requirements

Clear ANSI safety-rated glasses are required for the job when in the manufacturing areas. Safety-toed shoes or boots (ASTM 2413-11 standard) are required.
