Job Summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Associate to join our team at the University of Minnesota Emergency Department. This role is responsible for assisting the nursing staff in maintaining a safe and healing environment in the inpatient setting. The Psychiatric Associate responds to patient needs, supplies to efficient unit operations, and observes patients as delegated by and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

The Psychiatric Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the RN. This includes:

* Conducting safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation
* Conducting room, belonging, and unit searches
* Responding and participating in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained
* Actively participating in milieu management with treatment team collaboration

The Psychiatric Associate also performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan, including:

* Demonstrating knowledge of signs/symptoms of diagnoses and interventions
* Conducting educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan
* Responding to emergency situations as trained per policy

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree and Basic Life Support Certification. A Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or Human Services Field is preferred, as is experience working in the mental health field.
