Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Special Education Technician to join our team at Hanover County Public Schools. The ideal candidate will provide extended support to students with disabilities who are demonstrating behavioral difficulties in the school setting.



Responsibilities:




  • Implement behavioral strategies as outlined in the student's Special Education plan under the direction of an HCPS consultative teacher/special educator.
  • Provide individualized support to students with diverse needs, promoting positive behaviors and academic success.
  • Collaborate with special educators, general educators, and other school staff to develop and implement student-centered plans.
  • Support the development of social skills, emotional regulation, and academic skills in students with disabilities.
  • Document student progress, behavior, and interventions, communicating regularly with teachers and parents.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in behavioral support, special education, and crisis intervention.


Requirements:




  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities and challenging behaviors.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Basic knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
