Job Summary

This is a FLSA non-exempt position that requires a graduate of an accredited program and a licensed RN to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The incumbent serves as a Developmental Disability/Mental Health Nurse Care Coordinator in Region Ten Community Services at varying clinic sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide delivery and administration of medications
  • Consult with other clinical staff regarding consumer health care issues
  • Report to the Nursing Manager for Region Ten's Medical Services in consultation with Director of DD Residential Services
  • Perform duties by proceeding alone under standard practices and referring questionable situations to the supervisor
  • Carry out position duties in accordance with applicable professional ethics and established Region Ten policies, Virginia Board of Nursing, Virginia Board of Pharmacy, and DBHDS policies
Qualifications
  • Valid Virginia Driver's License and an acceptable driving record as issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Proven experience as a RN
  • Knowledge of serious mental illnesses, developmental disabilities, psychopharmacology, and medication side effects
  • Skills in assessing needs of individuals with serious mental illness and/or developmental disabilities, planning appropriate intervention, delivering and administering medications, and completing venipuncture
Work Environment

The incumbent will work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on providing high-quality care to individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health needs. The position will involve 50% coverage of primary MH clinic at the Peterson Building in Charlottesville and PRN coverage of Rural clinics in Louisa and Nelson Counties.
