We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnologist II to join our team at Emory Medical Laboratory. As a key member of our laboratory services team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality, cost-effective, and innovative laboratory services that enhance patient health.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and complex histologic procedures to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment.
- Accession tissue specimens, prepare routine specimens for fixation in automatic processors, and embed and section specimens using a microtome.
- Affix tissue to slides, stain, cover slip, and label slides, and maintain a reference system of control blocks and slides for use in special studies.
- Prepare fixative and staining solutions according to established laboratory procedures and perform frozen section microtomy.
- Assist with monitoring and maintaining inventories of laboratory supplies and chemicals, and perform and participate in the review and reporting of quality control activities in the laboratory.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as HT(ASCP) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, with a minimum of two (2) years' experience, or certification as HTL(ASCP) or HTL-eligible by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists with no experience.
- Certification must be obtained within 18 months of employment.
