Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain, repair, and install equipment as assigned in accordance with guidelines, building codes, and departmental policies.
  • Complete all preventive maintenance assigned within the guidelines of departmental policies.
  • Keep all logs, records, and other reports as assigned on the building and up-to-date data for H.V.A.C. Systems and components of these systems.
  • Respond to all calls given in a timely manner by completing the request or communicating with the requestor conditions causing a delay.
  • Keep all assigned areas neat, clean, and in good repair at all times.
  • Be observant and communicate to Department Management any situation that needs attention or could be changed that would improve operation of Building Systems.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or trade school.
  • Licensed by the City of Chicago as a Stationary Engineer.
  • Refrigeration Certification Type 1, 2, or Universal (helpful but not required).
  • General knowledge of at least two other trades (Pipe fitting, Plumbing, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning).
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Familiar with repair, operation, and installation of Pneumatic Systems.
  • Must be in good physical condition.
