Financial Coordinator

This position is responsible for providing fiscal, administrative, logistical, and technical support to staff in the Office of School and Community Nutrition Program. The Coordinator, Nutrition Finance Management is responsible for managing and tracking financial records and processes, entering and monitoring data in the Notice of Grant Awards (NOGA) System and Financial Management Information Systems (FMIS), reconciling expenses, developing and responding to finance correspondences, and managing general finance functions in the Office of Community & School Nutrition Program.
Key Duties
- Manages and reconciles credit card statements
- Inputs and monitors data in the Financial Management Information Systems (FMIS) and Notice of Grant Awards (NOGA) System
- Develops and implements a financial monitoring system to track grants, expenditures, and other Office funds
- Manages, reconciles, assigns appropriate PCAs/Object Codes to expense reports
- Assist in providing annual financial reports from MARS to Agencies on request
- Processes new requests and modifications for all grants/contracts and initiates the process for review by appropriate staff according to established procedures
- Prepares and tracks requests for services, purchase orders, contracts, expense reports, out-of-state travel requests, corporate card obligations, and requests for materials/equipment/supplies for staff according to MSDE policies and Office of School and Community Nutrition
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing. Five years of experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles to include three years performing advanced duties in the areas of cost accounting, systems accounting, federal fund accounting, or bond and loan accounting. Possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or Master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required general accounting experience. Applicants may substitute one year of professional auditing experience for one year of the required general experience. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Accounting Officer classification or Financial Management specialty codes in the Accounting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
