Position Overview

Kids Above All is in search of a dedicated Family Development Specialist to serve the Lake County/Waukegan areas. This is a full-time opportunity.

Role Responsibilities:

The Family Development Specialist will engage with families in their residences to deliver educational initiatives and developmental insights, which encompass the continuous evaluation of their child's growth. You will create and execute service plans tailored to the unique needs of both the children and their families, while providing essential resources and information to help families achieve their objectives as outlined in the service plan.

Key Duties:

  • Formulates service plans collaboratively with clients within designated timelines.
  • Conducts child development screenings and makes referrals as necessary.
  • Evaluates the requirements of children and parents, offering resources and referrals accordingly.
  • Facilitates child/parent activities using the Parents As Teachers framework.
  • Ensures that all children enrolled in the program have their health needs evaluated.
  • Empowers parents to achieve their service goals.
  • Collaborates with families to establish realistic and suitable service objectives.
  • Guarantees that assigned caseload receives bi-weekly home visits.
  • Undertakes additional related responsibilities as assigned.
  • Responsible for building and managing your own caseload.
  • Manages a caseload of 20 families.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, early childhood education, sociology, or a related discipline.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in family support, prenatal health care, or early childhood education is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively; strong time-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team setting.
  • Demonstrated project management, organizational, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, effective documentation, listening).
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to establish professional relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable with recruiting families for the program.

Additional Requirements:

A valid driver's license, daily access to an insured vehicle, a clean driving record, and a willingness to travel are essential for this position, as the Family Development Specialist will be required to visit clients in their homes.
