The Technical Specialist plays a crucial role within the Instrumentation & Electrical division of the Technical Specialist Program, focusing on the Midstream Maintenance Organization that oversees Gas Plants, Pipelines, Terminals, and various facilities. This position is primarily tasked with delivering technical assistance to frontline personnel, which includes training, advanced troubleshooting, and some project development and commissioning activities. The role may also involve participation in emergency response and recovery efforts, as well as supporting frontline operations during staffing shortages. Responsibilities may evolve based on business needs.

This position necessitates the successful completion of an online assessment. Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivering technical training to enhance the Midstream Skills Expansion Program.
  • Collaborating with the Learning and Development Team to evaluate the technical competencies of field operations staff.
  • Providing technical training and support to field operations teams.
  • Participating in Skill Qualification and Operator Qualification evaluations and re-verification of field personnel.
  • Boosting the technical proficiency of field teams to maximize their effectiveness.
  • Offering expertise on advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration, repair, and replacement of electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation systems.
  • Providing technical guidance for the design, installation, and operation of electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation systems.
  • Acting as a technical resource for project development, execution, and commissioning of electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation systems.
  • Supporting I&E Technicians, engineering, operations, and maintenance personnel with technical expertise.
  • Collaborating with Engineering and other Technical Specialists to ensure standards, policies, and procedures are effective and economical.
  • Identifying innovative technologies to support reliable and cost-efficient operations while staying updated on industry regulations, standards, and practices.
  • Facilitating the implementation of new tools, processes, and technologies, including associated training.
  • Assisting with related Emergency Response activities.
Required Qualifications:
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Willingness to travel based on business requirements.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Midstream Operations.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical, instrumentation, controls, and/or automation systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of gas plants, pipelines, and terminal operating equipment and control devices.
  • Advanced understanding of industry safety practices, National Electric Code, and hazardous area classifications.
  • Proven ability to effectively utilize software for data download and interpretation for troubleshooting, including:
    • Rockwell Studio 5000,
    • RSLogix 500,
    • Siemens PLCs,
    • Motor protector software Multiline and SEL.
  • Willingness and ability to perform the following tasks, with or without reasonable accommodations:
    • Climb up to 50 feet using inclined and vertical ladders.
    • Lift up to 45 pounds.
    • Bend, kneel, and squat for up to 30 minutes at a time.
    • Stand or sit for extended periods based on job demands.
    • Work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
    • Work independently a significant portion of the time.
    • Respond to emergency calls as necessary.
    • Work overtime as required.
    • Handle chemicals and bases.
    • Wear personal protective equipment (such as fire-retardant clothing, steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Electrical Maintenance, Instrumentation, or Industrial Electronics.
  • 8 or more years of experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical, instrumentation, controls, and/or automation systems.
  • Experience in developing and managing technical training programs.
