Job Title: History of Early Modern European Art in a Global Perspective

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Art Historian to join our faculty as a Tenure-Track Professor in the History of Early Modern European Art in a Global Perspective. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Art History, with a focus on the Global Perspective, and will be able to teach a range of courses, including introductory surveys and focused seminars.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach a range of courses, including introductory surveys and focused seminars, in the History of Early Modern European Art in a Global Perspective
  • Develop and implement innovative pedagogical approaches to engage students in the study of Art History
  • Contribute to the development of the Art History curriculum at Sarah Lawrence College
  • Mentor and advise students, particularly those who are underrepresented in the academy
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Art or Architectural History, or Visual/Material Culture
  • Experience teaching Art History courses at the undergraduate level
  • Strong background in the History of Early Modern European Art in a Global Perspective
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative pedagogical approaches
  • Commitment to mentoring and advising students
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching courses that incorporate global perspectives and diverse cultural contexts
  • Ability to teach courses that engage with the Global Mediterranean, Transpacific, and Transatlantic Worlds
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse learning needs
