Surgical Technologist I

As a Surgical Technologist I at Advocate Aurora Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms. Your expertise in aseptic surgical techniques and knowledge of various types of equipment will be essential in preparing materials, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures. You will work closely with our surgical team to provide a clean, safe, and efficient environment for optimal patient care.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain aseptic surgical fields, instruments, and supplies for various surgical procedures.
Assist surgeons and other medical staff with gowning and gloving, as well as setting up and operating equipment used during procedures.
Maintain a sterile, dry, and unobstructed field during surgical procedures, anticipating the needs of the surgical team and reporting any breaks in aseptic technique.
Perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
Maintain a specialty cart or item, ensuring its completeness and availability, and checking the working condition of equipment and sterility.
Requirements:
Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, as well as basic computer proficiency.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, withstanding stress and maintaining a high level of concentration.
Physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull with 30 lbs of force, and perform other physical demands of the job.
