Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Manager to join our team at a progressive hospital system in San Antonio, TX. As a Pharmacy Manager, you will be responsible for leading the pharmacy team and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and transcribe orders accurately and efficiently into the pharmacy computer system
  • Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals with precision and attention to detail
  • Comply with facility policy and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements
  • Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, and appropriateness of drug and dose
  • Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners, suggesting cost-effective therapeutic alternatives as needed
  • Sustain the hospital formulary, minimizing non-formulary procurements and promoting rational drug therapy selection
  • Support participation in daily multidisciplinary and bedside rounds
  • Identify, design, and analyze drug utilization reviews to promote rational drug therapy and determine action plans based on results
  • Provide accurate and timely medication information to healthcare staff and patients
  • Develop, manage, and mentor pharmacy clinical programs, such as drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO, renal dosing, and other programs as determined appropriate based on patient population and literature guidelines
  • Develop, manage, and mentor the antimicrobial management program (AMP)

Requirements:

  • B.S. or Pharm D. from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year as a Pharmacy Clinical/Operations Specialist
  • Min 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience required; within the area of focus. (Retail experience will not be considered)
  • Completion of hospital PGY2/ pharmacy specialty residency or fellowship (Preferred in lie of acute care experience)
  • Specialty BCPS certification (Preferred)
  • Other certification (e.g. FCCP, FASHP) Preferred
  • Experience performing basic mathematical calculations, balance, and reconciliation of figures
  • Experience working in Microsoft Office, Meditech, Business Objects, and purchasing vendor applications
  • ACLS certification (Preferred)
  • Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy
  • Active Pharmacy Consultant license, or equivalent as per State requirements for a Pharmacy
