AbbVie EXCEL Externship (Externship for Cultivating Emerging Leaders)

The AbbVie EXCEL Externship is a unique two-day immersive program designed for sophomore students aspiring to pursue internships with AbbVie. Participants will engage with AbbVie's culture and gain practical experience across multiple business sectors.

Clinical Trial Operations Focus

The AbbVie Excel Externship in Clinical Trial Operations is integral to our talent development strategy for the Clinical Trial Operations Internship Program. Participants of this externship will be strongly considered for internship roles in Clinical Trial Operations in the subsequent year.

Clinical trials are essential for determining the safety and efficacy of new treatments before they are made available to patients. Our Development Operations team manages clinical trials, providing strategic and operational oversight for the planning, execution, and reporting of clinical development initiatives to facilitate successful global registration and commercialization of drug development projects. Additionally, AbbVie's Data and Statistical Sciences (DSS) team plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality clinical data and effective analytics to support our development pipeline.

The externship will spotlight the following functional areas:

  • Clinical Development Operations
  • Data & Statistical Sciences
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with a focus on Science
- Expected graduation between December and June 2027

Preferred Qualifications

- Demonstrated ability in teamwork, adaptability, innovation, and integrity
- Strong business acumen along with excellent communication, leadership, project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other database tools is advantageous
