Electrical Reliability Engineer

Flint Hills Resources, a leading refining company and part of Koch Industries, is seeking an experienced Electrical Reliability Engineer to join their team in Corpus Christi, Texas.

This is a unique opportunity to accelerate your career and be part of an industry-leading company. As an Electrical Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity and reliability of all low and medium Electrical Installations, Systems, and Equipment for the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the reliability of electrical infrastructure and equipment, including developing engineering solutions to address repetitive failures and other issues.
  • Track bad actors and provide reliability and performance metrics indicators to determine the health of the electrical infrastructure and equipment.
  • Develop and update asset strategies for refinery electrical equipment, including motors, motor control centers, UPS, protection relays, and other utilization systems.
  • Identify innovative technologies to proactively identify and prevent common failure modes (anomaly detection).
  • Lead or support root cause analysis (RCA) investigations, compile recommendations and action items, and present findings to leadership.
  • Provide electrical equipment work scopes for unit Turnarounds/outages and assist planning teams with technical questions.
  • Provide electrical engineering support in Technical Assistance (TA) windows, developing recommendations for discovery work and technical assistance to maintenance teams.
  • Support the maintenance and electrical operations teams in troubleshooting techniques and provide engineering solutions for protection schemes.
  • Interface with vendors to ensure purchased engineering equipment meets reliability and design standards.
  • Support the long-term asset advancement teams by developing engineering solutions to address unit/electrical infrastructure risk and/or investment project opportunities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, electronics, or electrical.
  • 1 year of experience in refinery, chemical plants, engineering design consultancy, or manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of electrical engineering experience in reliability, design, maintenance, construction, or a combination of the four.
  • Knowledge of electric motors and motor controls, electrical protection schemes, and compliance and engineering standards (NEC, NFPA, API, OSHA, IEEE, and other RAGAGEPs).
  • Previous experience working with high, medium, and low voltage power distribution equipment.
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Formal RCA training.
