About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Astrolab. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing manufacturing processes and systems to support the production of our lunar rovers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop fabrication, assembly, and integration processes for structural components, avionics assemblies, and electro-mechanical sub-assemblies.
  • Drive design for excellence (DFx) throughout all stages of the product life cycle.
  • Develop and institutionalize fabrication and assembly standards.
  • Champion implementation of technology, processes, and methodologies to accelerate hardware development, build, test, and operation.
  • Triage and determine solutions for non-conformances.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Design and own assembly and fabrication tooling from concept through implementation.
  • Develop work instructions and documentation for build and test processes.
  • Outline detailed project plans and drive cross-functional execution.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field; master's degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • 5+ years' of experience working in production, R&D, manufacturing engineering, or test operations; preferred experience with NASA projects.
  • Demonstrated mastery of project management and associated tools.
  • Demonstrated understanding of electro-mechanical systems as well as metallic and composite structures.
  • Deep understanding of industry and NASA mechanical and avionics standards.
  • Expert in root cause problem solving across the product life cycle.
  • Experience with Lean and Six Sigma principles.
  • High proficiency with GD&T.
  • Proficiency with CAD modeling software (e.g., NX or SolidWorks).
  • Understanding of DAQ systems, meaningful experience in set-up and troubleshooting, and prior experience in basic coding (LabVIEW, Python, etc.).
  • Experience with safety regulations and establishing best practices.
  • High proficiency with JIRA, MES/MRP software, and Excel.
