Job Title: Cardiac Stepdown Travel Nurse

Tact Staff is seeking a skilled travel nurse to join our team in a Cardiac Stepdown position. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a high-acuity setting while traveling across the United States.

Job Requirements:
  • Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown

Unit Details:

  • Beds: 22
  • Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4-6

Required Certifications:

  • BLS
  • ACLS

Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients:

  • Bradycardia
  • A-fib
  • SVT
  • CHF
  • CAD
  • NSTEMI
  • PVD
  • PE
  • CVA/TIA
  • Post-operative VATS
  • Post-operative lobectomy
  • Post-operative wedge resection
  • Chest tubes
  • Tracheotomy (no vents)
  • TAVR
  • Post-op day 1 CABG patients (admitted to ICU post-op then come to CVSD next day)

Experience or 'Must have' Skills:

  • Epicardial pacing
  • Chest tubes

Additional Information:

  • RNs required to titrate drips: Yes
  • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Cardizem, amiodarone, procainamide, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, insulin (rarely)
  • Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge nurse takes full patient assignment
  • Nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: 1:15
  • Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Both
  • RT in ICU: 24/7
  • RT Equipment: No vents, No continuous BiPap, Cpap, Airvo
  • Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit: Monitor techs are not on the unit, but there are monitors in the nurses' station and in some rooms
  • Shifts & Scheduling: Position is night shift only or rotating day and night
  • Weekend Requirements: Averages to every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirements: Travel RNs will be added to the holiday rotation along with permanent staff
  • Is there a call or standby requirement?: No
  • Floating Requirements: Float first
  • Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy Blue, no artificial nails
  • Unit/Department specific orientation: 12-hour shift with a preceptor
