Lunar Transportation Instrumentation Engineer III

At Blue Origin, we're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. As a key member of our Lunar Transportation business unit, you'll play a critical role in developing Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design engineers to understand and document instrumentation requirements and interfaces
  • Select, design, and test sensors for the fluids and propulsion integrated product team
  • Engage with instrumentation suppliers to develop flight sensors and create strategic relationships
  • Write specifications, verification plans, and system safety artifacts for flight sensors
  • Create mechanical and electrical drawings for sensor assemblies
  • Plan and execute sensor characterization, verification, and qualification test campaigns
  • Interact with internal and external partners to track instrumentation engineering development and ensure the release of installation drawings per schedule

Requirements:

  • B.S. degree or higher in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or other appropriate engineering or physics field
  • 5+ years of experience in design, test, and operation of transducers for the aerospace industry
  • Experience managing suppliers and projects from initial concept through production
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of NADCAP processes (welding, soldering, brazing)

Compensation Range:

CO applicants: $125,400.00-$175,560.00; WA applicants: $136,800.00-$191,520.00

Other site ranges may differ
