We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist II - CT Scan to join our team at UMass Memorial Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and producing high-quality images for our radiologists to interpret.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients for CT scans, ensuring their comfort and modesty at all times.
- Obtain and review requisitions for CT scans, properly identifying patients and following NPSG guidelines.
- Participate in patient transfers, positioning, and instructing patients for optimal diagnostic images.
- Follow departmental policies and procedures, making adjustments to techniques as needed to obtain high-quality studies with minimal radiation exposure.
- Provide protection to unaffected areas of the body from radiation exposure using lead shields.
- Perform complex tasks associated with CT scans, including setting up and operating the CT scanner for interventional studies.
- Assist radiologists during procedures as needed.
- Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate images, and label them appropriately.
- Prepare CT images for reading by radiologists through PACs, starting IVs, and administering oral and IV contrast as per policy and protocol.
- Orient and train new CT technologists and students.
- Maintain accurate patient records, documenting CT information, including contrast reactions, radiation dose, and contrast dose.
- Stock and clean scanner rooms, notifying supervisors of supply needs.
- Transport patients as needed.
- Work as a radiographic technologist and perform duties in other areas and/or modalities as needed.
- ARRT certification in Radiology is required.
- RTR licensure in Commonwealth Massachusetts is required.
- CT modality requires a Sub-specialty (CT) certification within 1 year of employment.
- BLS certification is required.
- Maintaining all area-specific CEUs for ARRT, DPH according to regulation is required.
Work is considered sedentary, with a normal office environment. Physical demands should be adjusted as necessary.
