Medical Director for Hospice and Palliative Care

The Nurse Practitioner provides medical direction for hospice and palliative care patients under the care of EverHeart Hospice. He/she provides guidance to the hospice and palliative care program, to any physician employees, and to EverHeart Hospice staff and volunteers to assure the maintenance of quality care for patients and families. He/she serves as a liaison between the program, community physicians, and other health care providers to interpret and expand appropriate patient care. He/she provides direct medical care as needed to patients in the home, inpatient, hospital, or nursing facility setting. He/she provides clinical leadership and expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Provide medical direction for hospice and palliative care patients
- Guide the hospice and palliative care program
- Provide guidance to physician employees and EverHeart Hospice staff and volunteers
- Serve as a liaison between the program and community physicians and other health care providers
- Provide direct medical care as needed to patients
- Provide clinical leadership and expertise
Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited School of Nursing
- Completion of a nurse practitioner program or certified as a Nurse Practitioner
- Current Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Ohio and Indiana
- Current staff privileges at hospitals in the Agency's service areas
- Specialization in area of Family Practice, Oncology, or Hospice is preferred
- Knowledge of non-profit organizations preferred
- Minimum of five years of nursing experience; clinical nursing care in oncology, hospice, geriatrics, intensive care
