Key Responsibilities:

As a SCADA Project Engineer, you will:

  • Oversee and manage the implementation of multiple simultaneous utility-scale renewable projects across various technologies and architectures.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of project specifics, including interconnection, substation, and PV/BESS/Wind Array architectures, to effectively manage processes and collaborate with SCADA vendors to meet project requirements.
  • Review internal documents, proposals, and develop Scopes of Work (SOW) for SCADA bids, ensuring clarity in responsibilities and identifying any scope gaps.
  • Collaborate with Telecoms, Information, and Operational Technology teams during equipment selection and project networking to ensure reliable and secure connectivity.
  • Work closely with HV/Substation and Array engineering teams to ensure proper SCADA and Meter Integration, including conceptual meter schemes for revenue and loss accounting.
  • Review and approve SCADA design packages at various stages, including 30%, 60%, 90%, IFC, and As-Built.
  • Create and review point lists with SCADA vendors and utilities, ensuring comprehensive integration.
  • Develop and review Power Plant Controller (PPC) control logic narratives, covering a range of controls including MW Curtailment, Frequency Response, and various subsystem controls.
  • Support system installation, integration, site commissioning, troubleshooting, and control testing.
  • Assist in telemetry and control testing with interconnection utilities and other third parties, ensuring optimal site performance.
  • Support NERC testing requirements as necessary.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A strong background in power systems engineering with a focus on SCADA.
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on SCADA design and testing experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity with at least one SCADA platform, such as Ignition, GE Cimplicity, or others, with consideration for experience outside of renewables.
  • Knowledge of grid interconnection SCADA telemetry and control requirements across various markets.
  • Experience with SCADA communication protocols and integration of various devices.
  • An understanding of NERC compliance from a SCADA perspective.
  • Project management experience, balancing multiple consultants and EPCs.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to prioritize projects and lead technical discussions.
  • Ability to develop and compile PSCAD and RTDS models as needed.
  • Demonstrated success in site commissioning and tuning of control loops.
