Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures, interpreting ultrasound examinations, and providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including assessment of patient history, documentation of anatomy and pathology, and producing and summarizing documentation of procedure findings.
  • Interpret ultrasound examinations, including routine OB/GYN, vascular, abdomen, and small body parts, intra-cavity, and color Doppler, and biopsies.
  • Collaborate with physicians to provide preliminary clinical diagnosis and final diagnosis.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of all aspects of ultrasound, including new developments in ultrasound findings and technology.
  • Provide ultrasound guidance for procedures, including sonohysterograms, CVS, amniocentesis, and fetal procedures.
Requirements
  • Completion of a twelve (12) month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or General Ultrasound.
  • RDMS registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or registry eligible and become registered within one (1) year from date of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
Work Environment

This position is employed by UNC Health Care, a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System. This is not a State employed position.
