We are seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at UMass Memorial Health. As a key member of our operating room team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare the operating room for cases, selecting and checking case carts and preference cards for correct instruments and supplies.
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons and other team members, requesting special equipment and supplies as needed.
- Perform surgical counts with circulating nurses and utilize a variety of OR equipment, including microscopes and steam sterilizers.
- Pass and track instruments, sutures, and supplies during procedures, labeling all medication and solutions on the sterile field.
- Monitor sponges, needles, and instruments throughout the case, caring for specimens to prevent loss or damage.
- Successful completion of an accredited school of surgical technology and certification as a surgical technologist.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and membership in the Association of Surgical Technologists.
- Thorough knowledge of surgical technology and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
