What Defines a McKibbon Facilities Maintenance Technician? As a pivotal member of the property management team, the Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of hotel facilities.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician oversees various aspects of the hotel, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, pool maintenance, and general upkeep of the premises.

You will report directly to the General Manager and are tasked with upholding the highest standards of quality work to minimize any inconvenience to guests.


A Typical Day:

You will be accountable for monitoring and maintaining the functionality of both the interior and exterior areas of the property. You will communicate operational activities, priorities, and issues with management and fellow technicians.

Your responsibilities will include performing essential construction trades such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, basic heating and air conditioning, pool maintenance, painting, and caulking.

Occasionally, you will also train others in these trades. You will adhere to the guidelines set forth by McKibbon Hospitality to ensure the ongoing protection of company assets and the safety of both associates and guests. Your role will be crucial in fostering positive interactions with both associates and guests.



Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years' experience in a lead maintenance role, preferably in a hotel environment. Ability to work independently and negotiate effectively with service providers or contractors to secure the best pricing for services. Proficiency in estimating the time required for maintenance tasks and understanding common causes of equipment failure. Knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques to preserve equipment.

Skills in testing pool and spa chemicals, identifying necessary tools, parts, and equipment for maintenance tasks, and performing basic repairs and replacements for heating and air conditioning systems. Familiarity with painting and caulking skills, along with basic tool knowledge and the ability to use standard hand tools such as wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, and hammers.

Ideal Skills & Attributes:
Strong communication skills, both efficient and friendly. Problem-solving abilities to determine the best course of action in response to customer inquiries or complaints. Expertise in scheduling maintenance tasks to minimize disruption to hotel operations. Skills in fire safety equipment usage and conducting fire drills and Life Safety Programs.

Ability to monitor the performance of contractors to ensure satisfactory service delivery. Experience in evaluating and selecting job applicants based on resumes and interviews. Capability to observe employee performance against established standards and conduct on-the-job training, fostering a positive learning environment for skill development.
