About the Position

This is an exciting opportunity to join the VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION team as a Psychologist in the Behavioral Health Service Line at the Fayetteville VA Health Care System. As a key member of our team, you will provide mental health prevention, assessment, treatment, management, and professional consultation services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Therapeutic Interventions: Develop and implement effective treatment plans to address mental health needs of patients, including individual therapy, group therapy, and psycho-education classes.
  • Conduct Evaluations: Conduct thorough evaluations to aid in the differential diagnosis of complex cases, providing accurate and timely assessments to inform treatment decisions.
  • Consult with Medical Center Staff: Provide consults with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues, offering expert guidance and support to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Develop Treatment Plans: Develop person-centered and recovery-oriented treatment plans to address mental health needs of patients, taking into account individual goals and preferences.
  • Provide Emergency/Crisis Interventions: Provide emergency/crisis interventions to stabilize patient(s), ensuring timely and effective response to critical situations.
  • Provide Tele-Mental Health Services: Provide patient care via tele-mental health in accordance with national/local performance measures, leveraging technology to expand access to mental health services.

Requirements
  • Education: A doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA).
  • Licensure: A full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience as a professional psychologist equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11).
