Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare for surgical procedures by pulling and organizing instruments and supplies, ensuring good working order and reviewing case carts for correct items.
  • Anticipate the surgeon's needs, passing instruments and retracting tissue during procedures.
  • Demonstrate aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure, disposing of sharps and trash and preparing instruments for cleaning.
  • Ensure accuracy of surgeon preference cards and pick lists, evaluating quality and safety and seeking opportunities for improvement in patient care.
  • Assist with OR turnover between cases, participating in stocking, replenishing supplies, and cleaning operating rooms.
  • Provide business support to the department, including administrative tasks and managing preference cards in coordination with key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate educational and onboarding support for new surg tech hires, physicians, resident physicians, and students.
Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED and current basic life support certification.
  • Certified as a surgical technologist with one to two years of experience or three to four years of experience in a surgical technologist role.
  • Registration with State Regulatory Agency, where applicable.
