Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mobile Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a Senior Mobile Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Scheduled Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance checks on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Perform DOT Inspections: Conduct inspections on vehicles to ensure they meet regulatory requirements.
  • Perform Light and Advanced Repairs: Perform repairs on vehicles, including minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment.
  • Diagnose and Repair Complex Issues: Use advanced diagnostic tools to identify and repair complex issues with vehicles.
  • Inspect and Test Equipment: Inspect and test equipment to diagnose malfunctions and ensure they are working properly.
  • Road Test Vehicles: Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure they are working properly.
  • Manage Parts Inventory: Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company-issued service trucks.
  • Operate Company-Issued Service Vehicles: Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicles, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections of vehicles.
  • Communicate with Clients and Customers: Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, providing information or assistance, resolving their problems, or satisfying their expectations.
  • Manage Concurrent Tasks: Manage concurrent assigned tasks, making effective judgments as to prioritizing work-related activities and time allocations.
  • Document Work Performed: Document according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings observed on Repair Orders using company-issued iOS devices and our proprietary TRAIT application.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent and 5 years' experience in a related field.
  • Valid Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • DOT Medical Card: Possess a valid DOT Medical Card or be able to obtain one prior to employment or within 72 hours of hire.
  • Hand Tools: Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
  • ASE Certification: Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
  • Age Requirement: Be at least 21 years or older.
Preferred Certifications
  • ASE T2 (Diesel Engines) Certification: Possess ASE T2 (Diesel Engines) certification.
